Caracol Serrano Jumilla Crianza, 2004 by Bodegas Y Viñedos De Murcia ($22.95 / btl)

Dark purple in the glass, it offers slightly subdued, yet complex aromas of sweet red cherry, liquorice, herbs and some earthiness - Amarone like. On the palate, it's medium- to full-bodied with plenty of fresh red/dark fruit character, fine, velvety tannins and refreshing, balanced acidity. Finishes with excellent length, consistent flavours and subtle notes of oak, mint and other herbs. Yummy.
