Pale straw with a youthful green hue. Intense, lifted aromas of fig, canned peach and almond entwined with toasty oak. A full-bodied style displaying concentrated ripe peach and stone fruit flavours layered elegantly with biscuit and butterscotch notes.
This Chardonnay is sourced from the renowned Coonawarra region in South Australia. The grapes were gently pressed and underwent a long, cool fermentation in new and one year old French oak. The wine then remained in oak for a further 14 months maturation, undergoing fortnightly batonage to enhance complexity and fruit and oak integration, prior to final blending and bottling.
"Amazingly for a wine of this price, 75% of the blend was fermented and aged in new French oak for 10 months but did not undergo malolactic fermentation. Light gold-colored, it has a remarkably complex bouquet featuring toast and buttered popcorn intertwined with baked apple and poached pear. Supple-textured, flavorful and long in the finish."
