The aromas are Classic Pinot Noir, bright cherry and sweet spice notes. It's supple on the palate with cherries, raspberries, cedar and spice from 18 months in barrel. Tannins are soft with no bitterness on the finish.
In July of 1985, Stoney Ridge Cellars became the 18th licensed winery in the fledgling Ontario wine industry. Since inception, the winery has undergone several ownership changes, but the quality of its award-winning wines, led by winemaker/co-founder Jim Warren, has remained consistent.
Today, winemaking duties are shared by Warren and Liubomir Popovici to produce a full complement of VQA varietals, ports, and Icewines. Grapes are harvested from three vineyard sites located in and around the Beamsville Bench, with plantings that include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Zweigelt, Baco Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Vidal, and Sauvignon Blanc.
