Uco Valley, where Kauzo Estates is situated, lies to the south of Mendoza City, nestled at the base of the Andes Mountains. It boasts a stunning view of Tupungato Volcano. This region is known for its limited rainfall and calcareous soils. Positioned at an elevation of around 1,200 meters above sea level, the irrigation relies on the pristine snowmelt from the Andes. These factors collectively contribute to Valle de Uco being a location of exceptional winemaking potential.
The grapes used by Kauzo Estates are sourced from two distinct locations within the valley. The fusion of these two terroirs yields a wines with a multifaceted and distinctive character.
Altamira, situated at an altitude of roughly 1,100 meters above sea level, is a locale at the heart of the Tunuyán River's alluvial cone. The soil here is calcareous, and the region experiences a broad range of temperatures. Altamira plays a pivotal role in providing fresh fruit notes that form the foundation of their wines.
On the other hand, La Consulta, positioned at 1,095 meters above sea level, exhibits a significant temperature fluctuation. The soils here consist of clay of alluvial origin, predominantly rocky with oval stones. This terroir imparts a round and fleshy quality to their Malbec.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
