The Producer
Bodegas Monteabellon
Bodegas Monteabellón, a family winery located in the small town of nava de roa was founded in 2002. For several generations the garcía family has utilized experience accumulated over decades. Nava de Roa still retains a multitude of stone-presses and cellars where its people made and preserved wine in the past. As in the rest of the Ribera del Duero, its history and traditions are closely related to wine.
All their wines come from denominations of origin, made with native grape varieties. Ribera del Duero is located in the Alto Duero and comprises 60 municipalities located in the provinces of Burgos, Valladolid, Soria and Segovia. For more than 2,500 years, wine and Ribera del Duero have been inseparable, cultivating wine as the pre-roman peoples did. The climate of the area is typically continental and with slight Atlantic influences. It is characterized by cold winters and hot summers. The vineyards lie on loose, not very fertile soils with quite high contents of limestone, which result in excellent quality fruit.
