Raimat boasts a history spanning over a century, serving as the driving force behind the establishment of the D.O. Costers del Segre. In 1914, Manuel Raventós acquired a vast stretch of approximately 3,000 hectares of barren land surrounding the remnants of a castle. Over the years, he transformed this area into Europe's inaugural wine plantation. The winery emerged from two distinctive initiatives: in 1918, the visionary Joan Rubió, a disciple of Gaudí, gave life to the renowned ‘Cathedral of Wine,’ and in 1998, Domingo Triay crafted a new structure—an architectural masterpiece seamlessly integrated into the landscape.
Within the Raimat vineyards, hunting is strictly forbidden, fostering a vibrant ecosystem teeming with life, including birds, rabbits, partridges, foxes, and more. Each element plays a crucial role in maintaining a delicate ecological balance. The vines and grapes are integral components of this intricate web, and as such, cultivation techniques prioritize preserving this equilibrium. Raimat is dedicated to producing top-quality wines with a distinctive personality, utilizing grapes exclusively sourced from their own estate. The commitment extends to utmost respect and conservation of the environment.
