Ca del Monte is situated on the hillsides overlooking the village of Negrar, in the heart of Valpolicella. Ca’ Del Monte’s Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico’s is a dark angel of sorts.
Expect stewed fruit, over-ripened plums, clove and baking spice, there is also pronounced vanilla and toasted notes. The palate is concentrated, with notes of prune, raisin, chocolate, rich fruit and warm spices. To sum up, full bodied, lifting acidity, smooth tannins and a rich finish.
Like the wine, big and strong foods pair best. Try it with stufato (meat and vegetable stew) or a beef tenderloin with a truffle butter sauce. Or keep it simple with seasoned cheeses.

Ca' del Monte is located in the heart of the Langhe region, in the Piedmont area of Italy. This family-owned winery has a long history of producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Ca' del Monte was founded in 1955 by Giovanni Battista Burlotto, who had a passion for winemaking that was passed down to him by his father. Today, the winery is run by Giovanni's son, Fabio Burlotto, who has continued his father's legacy of producing exceptional wines.
The Ca' del Monte winemaker is Gabriele Gorelli, who has a degree in oenology from the University of Florence. Gabriele has worked at several prestigious wineries in Italy and France before joining Ca' del Monte.
The winery is located in a hilly area with a climate that is influenced by the nearby Alps. The soil is rich in limestone, which gives the wines a distinctive mineral character. The vineyards are planted with Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, and other grape varieties that are typical of the region.
Ca' del Monte has received many awards for their wines, including the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso for their Barolo wines. The winery uses traditional winemaking methods, such as aging their wines in large oak casks.
