No other Italian wine delivers the punch and hedonistic pleasure of a great Amarone, and, with three Golds, the La Collina dei Ciliegi Amarone 2010 is surely one of the finest. From a highly lauded cellar, this is a magnificent red.
“Fragrant, gamey and sensuous, with dark fruit, spice, tobacco leaf and dried floral notes. Structured, rich, juicy palate with liquorice/chicory root savoury elements, well-managed tannins and fruit intensity. Decent acid and a spirit finish. Austere, yet with length and freshness.” Decanter.com, 2014

La Collina dei Ciliegi
La Collina dei Ciliegi is a winery situated on the gentle slopes of Valpantena. It was founded in 2005 by Massimo Gianolli and Stefano Falla in the pristine and picturesque region of Valpolicella. Perched at nearly 700 meters above sea level on a captivating hill, the vineyard derives its name, 'The Hill of Cherry Trees,' from the cherry trees that surrounded Massimo's initial vine plantings. The land originally belonged to Armando's father, who relocated to Milan for further education and work. Following his return after the Second World War, he embarked on a winemaking career, eventually passing down the business to his family.
The winery employs sustainable practices to safeguard the land and the environment. It seamlessly blends family values and traditions with innovative, modern skills to craft exceptional products. The barrel cellar serves as the hub for the wines' maturation.
The primary grape varieties cultivated include Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, and Rondinella. These high-quality grapes give rise to their renowned Valpolicella, Valpolicella Ripasso, and Amarone wines. While their focus is primarily on red wines, they also produce refreshing and refined white wines from Lugana and Garganega. The winery boasts an impressive collection of over 170 national and international awards.
