Argyros is a prominent winery located on the island of Santorini in Greece. The winery was established in 1903 by Georgios Argyros, and it has remained in the Argyros family for four generations. Today, the winery is owned by Yiannis Argyros.
The winemaker Apostolos Argyros is also a member of the family. Apostolos is known for his meticulous attention to detail. He uses traditional methods to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of Santorini.
The winery is located in the village of Episkopi Gonia, in the heart of Santorini's wine region. The terroir of Santorini is characterized by volcanic soil, which gives the wines a distinct minerality. The island's hot and dry climate, combined with sea breezes, creates ideal conditions for growing Assyrtiko, the main grape variety used in Argyros wines.
Argyros Winery has received numerous awards for their wines, including a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2020 for their 2018 Assyrtiko. The winery is also recognized as one of the top wineries in Greece, and their wines are exported to over 30 countries around the world.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
