Join WineOnline.ca for a wine dinner hosted by Isabelle Clendenen, daughter of the late Jim Clendenen and owner of Au Bon Climat. I am thrilled to pair both current and back vintages with an incredible, tailor-made menu by the Michelin trained chefs at Affinity Fish.
"To me they represent the very essence of Santa Barbara.”
"Winery of the Year 2019" - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
Having known Jon and Matt for years, I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to showcase what they are doing at Affinity. After working in New York, Toronto and Japan for some of the most famous chefs making Japanese food, he returned to Ontario with a passion to bring the highest quality of fish and seafood (which we so admire in Japanese cuisine), through careful handling, minimizing animal suffering, and prioritizing sustainable fishing practices, fish by fish, from lake to table. If not already incredible enough, they then chose to teach Aboriginal fisherman in Lake Huron how to kill and prepare the fish in the way he was trained, and the results speak for themselves. I am incredibly proud to partner with them, and we have worked tirelessly on pairing each dish with the wines and cannot wait for you to join us. Due to the room, and attention to detail required for each and every dish, space is incredibly limited.
The wines are listed below, and with Isabel in town we knew we wanted to go big, and showcase their best wines from prior vintages as well as new. With her as our guide, and Jon as our chef, we are in for the event I am most excited about doing all year. My hope in doing this event is to transmit Jim's ability to captivate a room, to make wine accessible, enjoyable and inviting. It is what brought me and so many of my colleagues to wine, and I cannot wait to share that passion with you.
Cheers,
- Sam Fritz Tate (Sommelier, WineOnline)
