The youthful style on the nose is supported by a tense palate with firm, dusty yet ripe and elegant tannins, refreshing acidity and a licorice aftertaste. Lavish and polished at the end. The Producer

Marco Marengo

The Marengo family founded this estate back in 1899. Currently, it's skillfully managed by the owner, Marco Marengo, alongside his wife Jenny and their son Stefano, who is a skilled wine technician. Although the vineyard covers just 6 hectares, 1.2 hectares are situated in Le Brunate, a grand cru in La Morra (among the Langhe area's finest crus), and another hectare is in Bricco delle Viole, a significant cru in the town of Barolo. These two vineyards have been in the Marengo family for five generations. The inaugural Barolo vintage with the Le Brunate label dates back to 1974, while Barolo Bricco Viole has been labeled as such since the 1997 vintage.

Marco, with his extraordinary palate, provides a unique tasting experience, initially in the small, cluttered cellar in La Morra, and now in the recently constructed cellar (utilized for vinification since 2011). Marco's philosophy centers on respecting the vineyards' offerings as much as possible, emphasizing the importance of vineyard work over cellar work. In addition to the exceptional Barolo Brunate and Barolo Bricco Viole, Marco crafts a foundational Barolo from four La Morra vineyards, a Dolcetto d’Alba, a Barbera d’Alba (aged for 10 months in French oak barriques), a Nebbiolo d’Alba (from an old vineyard in the Roero zone), and a Barolo Riserva.
