"A rich version, whose fleshy texture envelops cherry, plum, licorice, earth and mint flavors. Balanced, with civilized tannins and a lingering finish that echoes the plum and spice flavors, adding a mineral element."

Azienda Agricola Giovanni Rosso is a family-owned estate spanning 12 hectares and situated in Serralunga d'Alba, on the eastern side of the Barolo region. The family has possessed these vineyards since the late 19th century, but they only began producing wines under their own label in 1995.
Talented winemaker Davide Rosso leads the operation. He gained valuable experience in Burgundy, working with renowned estates like Domaine Jean Grivot and Denis Mortet. Davide embraces a refreshingly natural approach to both the vineyard and the winery. Although the vineyards aren't officially certified, they are managed organically without the use of pesticides or herbicides. These vineyards encompass several unique terroirs, including the limestone-rich La Serra and the clay-rich Cerreta.
Traditional winemaking methods are employed to bring out the finest characteristics of these terroirs. Fermentation occurs with natural, wild yeasts, taking place in cement tanks without temperature control. The aging process takes place in large French oak barrels, each holding 5,000 liters, a departure from the traditional Slavonian oak.
While Azienda Agricola Giovanni Rosso may not be as widely recognized as some Barolo estates, it adheres to a traditional winemaking style that allows the true essence of the Nebbiolo grape and the specific terroir to shine. Their more affordable Serralunga bottling is a blend of grapes from five separate crus, vinified individually and then skillfully combined to create a unique expression of the region.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
