The palate is firm but elegant, offering crushed raspberry, tart cherry, licorice and a dollop of vanilla supported by taut, fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it bright while a hint of almond liqueur lingers on the finish."

"The 2020 Barolo V. Lazzairasco is spicy and perfumed with notes of eucalyptus, mossy earth, grenadine, cherries, dried rose, and anise. Medium-bodied, it has a nice purity of concentration on the palate, with ripe tannins, a velvety texture, and a clean, balanced finish that has good length. It’s another impressive wine from Porro with some potential for aging over the next 12-15 years."

The Producer

Guido Porro

With many prized vineyards in Barolo’s Serralunga, the Porro family have long grown grapes and fermented wine, however, they historically sold their fruit or wine (in demijohn) to other producers. Only recently have they started bottling under their eponymous label. These soulful, naturally made Barolos are some of the most moving expressions of the Nebbiolo grape one could ever hope to drink—from a family whose history in the Barolo region surely qualifies as 'epic.'
