"The one-hectare Vigna Santa Caterina vineyard lies behind the Guido Porro estate in Serralunga, within the Lazzarito MGA at 400 metres on clay and limestone soil. The wine is fermented in concrete with indigenous yeast then fermented in large Slavonian oak casks (15-25hL). Blood orange, olives, cinnamon, camphor...the vibrancy of this wine is stunning. On the palate it is firm and velvety, with a slightly dusty Nebbiolo texture, lifted acidity and a mineral-laden finish. A great wine focused on elegance, this is precise and long-lasting with an impressive savouriness; I would even say salty."

The Producer
Guido Porro
With many prized vineyards in Barolo’s Serralunga, the Porro family have long grown grapes and fermented wine, however, they historically sold their fruit or wine (in demijohn) to other producers. Only recently have they started bottling under their eponymous label. These soulful, naturally made Barolos are some of the most moving expressions of the Nebbiolo grape one could ever hope to drink—from a family whose history in the Barolo region surely qualifies as 'epic.'
