Larcis Ducasse is blessed by the soil it is built on. The pure limestone ridge gives an incredible mineral laden finish to their wines, and defines the character of this. It has a vivid dark crimson core of great concentration and density, hinting at the powerful aromatics to come. The nose is profoundly intoxicating and sleek, driven by notes of ripe red plum, spiced cherries, redcurrants, wet rose petals, leather, bay leaf, and gentle touches of clove, wild lavender, and dried clay. The palate boasts of Merlot’s full, velvety body, as textures reminiscent of cherry skins make the wine glide without friction. The finish is vivid, marrying the rich red berry fruit with oak spices on a bed of turned earth. Everything about it is first class, except for the price!

A fabulous value left bank Bordeaux from a winery that Robert Parker calls a "consistent property that turns out wines that are often very close to classified-growth quality." Firing on all cylinders. Cigar box, leather, dried red fruits and camp fire on the nose. Impeccable balance on a mid-weight frame. Sous bois, crunchy red fruits and some dark but not quite plummy flavours. Tannins integrated but still showing structure. In a perfect drinking mode.

"The 2020 La Tour de Mons was picked from 17 September to 1 October and aged in 25% new oak. It has a perfumed nose with a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar and pressed iris flower, not intense but nicely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and pliant tannins, well judged acidity, harmonious with very impressive oak integration towards the finish. This is a delightful Margaux that should drink well for 15-20 years. One to look out for."
