"Made in slightly higher amounts than many of the producer's other estate wines, this is an outstanding value for the quality,—a wildly delicious expression of the grape, region and vintage that is in cohesive harmony. Savory, rocky and textured, it blends 30% of its grapes from neighboring Hellenthal Vineyard, the combination exploding in red tangy fruit."

Hirsch Vineyards

David Hirsch started planting his vineyard near Fort Ross in 1980, long before the Sonoma Coast was recognized as having the potential for producing some of the best Burgundian grape varieties in the county.

For many years, the goal was to sell the grapes to other winemakers, such as Williams-Selyem, Siduri, and Littorai. Now, almost all of the grapes are used to make wine under the Hirsch Vineyards label. Many talented winemakers have crafted Hirsch wines, including Vanessa Wong, Ross Cobb, and Anthony Filiberti.

In 2017, Jasmine Hirsch, David's daughter, took on the role of winemaker and will continue to oversee the production of Hirsch's wines from specific vineyard plots, as well as the 'San Andreas Fault' estate blend.
