La Palazzetta
The family-owned winery and vineyards cover 18 hectares and are located on the southeastern outskirts of the Montalcino DOC in the quaint village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Flavio Fanti, a staunch traditionalist, employs large Slovenian and French oak for his Brunello. However, he ardently believes that wine is a result of ripe and mature fruit whenever it's consumed.
Flavio's Brunellos showcase the exceptional terroir of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. He cultivates these vineyards organically, demonstrating profound respect for the land and the cherished appellation. Flavio's Brunellos are robust wines characterized by their structure, power, and purity, undoubtedly crafted for long-term aging.
As a genuine country gentleman, time appears to almost stand still when Flavio passionately discusses his vines, treating them as if they were his own children. There is no foreign investment involved, no consortium of Swiss doctors or Pinot Grigio tycoons from the north. You won't find any Syrah, Merlot, or Cabernet planted anywhere near his land!
Flavio personally crafts his wines, serving as both a grower and a cellar master. Furthermore, his daughter Tea, holding a Doctorate in Oenology, plays a significant role in the cellar. In the vineyards, grapes receive meticulous care through organic farming methods. In 2016, La Palazzetta earned the 'Ecofriendly Cellar Diploma' for producing wholesome wines for consumers, demonstrating a commitment to ecologically sustainable values, implementing projects to safeguard the land and vineyards, and executing energy-saving initiatives. La Palazzetta's wines obtained organic certification with the 2018 harvest.
