The Producer

Poggio Salvi

Poggio Salvi follows the philosophy of crafting wines in a traditional manner using modern methods. While the essence of wine is shaped in the vineyard, it becomes crucial to handle it with expertise once it enters the cellar, respecting the unique qualities presented by each harvest. Villa Poggio Salvi, with its contemporary structure, looks ahead to the future while honouring the past. This is achieved through the straightforward elegance of Sangiovese Grosso, matured in large oak casks in accordance with historical traditions.

The name Villa Poggio Salvi is derived from its fortunate position on the southern side of Montalcino, offering a breathtaking view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The pristine air and fragrances from the dense oak forests and the Mediterranean surroundings have attracted people from Maremma since ancient times. Poggio Salvi, which translates to ‘Healthy Poggio,’ has always been recognized as a wholesome and pure area, providing refuge from diseases and viruses. Historical records from the Montalcino Archives reveal that this location gained renown for its wines, served to the most distinguished individuals as early as the 16th century.
