Tasting Notes

Aged in specially selected barrels, this versatile Bordeaux-style blend embraces all the characteristics of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grapes grown on our estate vineyard. The blackberry and blackcurrant flavours of the Cabernet are enhanced by the soft muted flavours of plum and black cherry found in the Merlot. Blended together before aging to ensure proper marrying, this Cabernet Merlot is loaded with savoury plum, currant, and spicy notes. Enjoy with grilled sirloin steak, falling-off-the-bone ribs, or with a burger.

The Producer

Hester Creek

The original winery, known as Divino Estate, was constructed on this site during the early 1980s by Joe Busnardo, a pioneer in the BC wine industry. Joe recognized the potential for cultivating vinifera grapes in an area that reminded him of the picturesque hillsides of Italy where he spent his youth. In 1996, the property changed hands and was rebranded as Hester Creek, taking its name from the creek that flows along the southern edge of the land.

In 2004, Curt Garland, an entrepreneur from Prince George, was captivated by the breathtaking surroundings and firmly believed in the property's potential. The dry grasslands, natural vegetation, orchards, and vineyards of the Golden Mile Bench evoked memories of the Mediterranean for him. Although new to the wine industry, Curt assembled a skilled team, including the experienced winemaker Rob Summers from Niagara.

Curt made substantial investments in various aspects of the vineyard, such as introducing new plantings and implementing a state-of-the-art drip irrigation system. He also constructed a 23,000-square-foot winery equipped with modern technology, established a new hospitality center, created an Italian-inspired restaurant, and provided luxurious accommodations at the Villa, among other improvements.
