Tasting Notes

The 2012 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a harmonious and vibrant wine. This full-bodied, classic expression of Alexander Valley Cabernet in a cool vintage has a bright ruby-red color with purple undertones. The nose exudes aromas of black cherry, cedar and black olives. On the palate, its dried herb, cocoa and lavender flavors are framed by dusty tannins and a savory texture. The wine finishes with lively acidity and a lingering persistence.

The Producer

Silver Oak Cellars

Silver Oak had its beginnings with a simple handshake between two friends who shared a daring vision. Their main focus centres around a single grape variety, Cabernet Sauvignon, which is carefully aged exclusively in American oak barrels, designed to improve with age for many years. The journey started in a dairy barn in 1972, and since then, Silver Oak has gained international acclaim for their exceptional Napa Valley and Alexander Valley Cabernets.

In 2015, Silver Oak achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first North American winery to own and operate its own American oak cooperage, providing them with complete control over the barrel-making process. Presently, they cultivate over 400 acres of vineyards with a cutting-edge approach to viticulture. It's worth noting that all their estate vineyards are certified under California's Sustainable Winegrowing program.
