"Great value in California cabernet. From the volcanic soils of the Pickberry Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain, this is a full bodied, firm and dense cabernet. Love the classy and classic nose of blackcurrant/cassis, mineral, gentle eucalyptus and very fine oak trimming. Sturdy stuff, still youthfully tannic yet well balanced. The focus and length are excellent to outstanding, and there is a sense of minerality to boot. Stick it in the cellar, best 2025 to 2030+."

Before founding Tin Barn Vineyards in 2000, Michael Lancaster fled the corporate world, and he did so on two wheels, pedalling through some of the world’s most fabled wine regions. Returning to his native Toronto a year later, he knew he’d never wear a suit and tie again. He headed to Northern California to attend the renowned University of California at Davis enology program. After working for the critically acclaimed, Gloria Ferrer Champagne Caves, he moved to Quail Ridge Cellars, where he was eventually promoted to winemaker.
Tin Barn Vineyards sprawls over 30 rolling acres on the northeast slope of Sonoma Mountain. Much like the “real” Tin Barn Road where he discovered the winery’s first fruit source, the path is steep and the views, incomparable.
