Farnese, located in the region of Abruzzo, has had a long-standing association with the world of wine that dates back to 1538. This historical connection began when Princess Margaret of Austria, the spouse of Prince Farnese, chose to step away from the courtly life and instead embarked on the construction of the magnificent Farnese palace in Ortona. This period marked a remarkable turning point for the town, as it saw the revival of agriculture, particularly viticulture, which had been a prominent industry in the region for many centuries.
Wines produced by the Farnese family found their way onto the tables of prestigious European courts, earning the name Farnese a reputation for excellent wine both within Italy and internationally. In 1994, Farnese Vini was established and quickly ascended to a leading position in Abruzzo and South Italy in terms of export volumes. This achievement was attributed to their contemporary entrepreneurial approach, stringent quality standards, and their rapid success in the commercial market.
In February 2013, Farnese Vini welcomed a new partner, the '21 Investimenti' group, under the leadership of entrepreneur Alessandro Benetton. This addition injected fresh energy into the company's strategic direction. An impressive investment of eight million Euros was made to enhance production facilities.
Today, Farnese produces over 20 million bottles of wine, with more than 95% of them being exported to 82 different countries. At the helm of the Farnese Group is Valentino Sciotti as President and CEO, with Filippo Baccalaro serving as the chief oenologist, and Alberto Antonini as the technical consultant.
