Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red in color. Bouquet is intense and fruity with inkling of ripe red fruits. Persistent and harmonic flavors. Best with roasted red meats, tomato sauces and soups. Eduardo Scuotto was driven to settle in Irpinia by his passion for wine and his desire to experience the synergy between man and nature. With the support of his family, his dream has been realized and Tenuta Scuotto was founded. Scuotto aims to provide the market with products that are different, yet authentic, expressions of the terroir; products which are able to convey their unique identity when tasted.

The Producer

Tenuta Scuotto

Tenuta Scuotto, a quaint family-operated vineyard nestled in the town of Lapio, within the Irpinia region of Avellino province. Situated amidst the picturesque foothills of Monte Tuoro in Campania, Eduardo and his son Adolfo tend to 5 hectares of vineyards. While the predominant grape variety is the white Fiano, they also cultivate Greco di Tufo, Falanghina, and craft red Taurasi from Aglianico grapes. Through the dedication of these warmly hospitable individuals, they've not only crafted exceptional wines but also spearheaded a winemaking initiative called 'Oi Ni,' showcasing Fiano in its purest form through a single varietal wine produced from late-harvested grapes. This wine undergoes fermentation in Alsatian oak barrels without the addition of yeast, stabilization, or filtration, resulting in a distinctive, evolving flavor profile with age. Its accolades include the prestigious Oscar del Vino 2016 awarded by Gambero Rosso. Each wine from the Scuotto estate boasts a unique character, reflecting the terroir of Irpinia. The recurring motif of a face adorning their wine labels, inspired by an ancient statue, serves as a defining element of their wine identity, imbuing each bottle with personality.
