"Fresh, alluring aromas of wild berry, pressed violet, dark baking spice and a whiff of new leather all come together in the glass. The firm full-bodied palate offers ripe black cherry, mature plum, cinnamon, licorice and a hint of tobacco. Chewy tannins and bright acidity provide support and balance."

Marchesi Frescobaldi stands as one of Italy's renowned wine legacies, with a history spanning 700 years and 30 generations. Originating in Florence circa 1300, they initially contributed to the flourishing Florentine banking sector, significantly impacting the city's political and economic landscape. Their influence extended beyond Italy, as they financially backed English Kings Edward I and II, earning the title 'Treasurers to the English Crown' and the responsibility of customs tax collection from all English ports.
In Florence, they championed the arts, commissioning landmarks like the enduring Santa Trinità Bridge and the Church of Santa Croce, designed by Brunelleschi, the famed architect of the Florence Cathedral. Dino Frescobaldi, a celebrated poet in the family's lineage, is noted for recovering and returning the initial cantos of the Divine Comedy to his exiled friend, Dante Alighieri.
The wine legacy began at their estate, Tenuta di Castiglioni in Val di Pesa, southwest of Florence, recorded in 1300. From the outset, the Frescobaldi family upheld rigorous standards, ensuring their wines achieved superior quality. By the early 1400s, renowned Renaissance artists Donatello and Michelozzo Michelozzi were counted among their clients. In the 1500s, Frescobaldi wines graced the tables of the Papal Courts and King Henry VIII of England.
Presently, the Frescobaldi family owns 11 estates in Italy, with 10 located in Tuscany, distributing their wines across more than 65 countries worldwide.
