Tasting Notes

Mas Codina is a 40 hectare estate in the Alt Penedès which dates back to 1681. This Brut Nature Reserva Cava was hand-harvested from 20 to 30-year-old vines and estate bottled. Farming is 100% Organic on the estate. Vines are planted in calcareous and sandy clay soils which keep the wine minerally and lively. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle, and is aged on its lees for a minimum of two years before disgorgement. Varietals include Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. 100% hand riddled as well!

Nestled in the heart of the Alt Penedès region, the Mas Codina estate sprawls across the picturesque low-lying plains and undulating hills, with elevations ranging between 250 and 300 meters. Traditionally, this familial estate derived sustenance from cultivating cereals, grapes, peaches, and an assortment of vegetables, complemented by the presence of farm animals. However, a recent transformation has taken place, and today, with the exception of venerable century-old olive trees, the entire expanse is dedicated exclusively to vineyards.

Generations of the same family have overseen Mas Codina, cultivating a deep-rooted connection to the land and its traditions. Embracing organic farming methods, they champion natural processes, fostering a harmonious ecosystem. The commitment to sustainable practices is a testament to their profound affection for the land. Presently, the estate boasts 40 hectares of vineyards, all meticulously tended to with organic farming principles at the forefront of their agricultural endeavours.
