Squeezed between the Grand Cru Blanchot and the 1er Cru of Montée de Tonnerre, the land is arguably the finest Chablis AC vineyard in the region. This Chablis from Domaine Testut comes exclusively from these 45-year-old massale selection vines planted in clay and limestone soils. The resulting wine is incredibly complex, with elegant minerality and freshness that will only improve with time.
"A slightly riper nose freely offers up a hint of the exotic on the blend of white and yellow orchard fruit where a touch of post-malolactic fermentation character lurks in the background. The old vines are in evidence on the medium weight flavors as there is better density along with plenty of sappy dry extract that buffers moderately firm acidity on the lingering and balanced finish. This is also worth a look though note that my predicted range assumes that the nose will clean up once the wine is racked."

Located in Chablis, Domaine TESTUT was created in 1967 by Philippe Testut, who was also behind the creation of 'Château Grenouille'. His son Cyril took over the family estate in 1998. The domaine and its vineyards are located in the heart of the Chablis region.
Its vines in the Chablis appellation are over 40 years old on average and for the premiers crus and grands crus are over 50 years old. They cover an area of 13 hectares. Harvesting is carried out by hand for a part of the Chablis appellation, and entirely by hand for all the premiers crus and the Grenouille grand cru.
