Tasting Notes

Vivid yellow. Intense, mineral-laced orchard and citrus fruit aromas are complicated by emerging notes of iodine, honey and white flowers. Sappy and precise, offering energetic pear, orange and honeysuckle flavors that are given spine by juicy acidity. Shows excellent clarity and punch on a finish that emphatically repeats the mineral and floral notes.

The Producer

R. Dumont et Fils

The vineyards on the slopes of Champignol rise to 370 meters, making them the highest vineyards in Champagne. The soils are an extension of the geological composition found in Chablis, specifically the chalky clay of the kimmeridgian variety. The Dumont vineyard predominantly features 90% Pinot Noir, boasting nearly 50 different clones, and 10% Chardonnay. Bernard Dumont's remarks about the shared terroir are both insightful and amusing. They cultivate grapes in the same soils as the vine growers in the Chablis region. In Chablis, white wine is crafted from white grapes, while R. Dumont et Fils produces white wine from red grapes. All production adheres to organic and sustainable practices.
