Producer : Pol Roger
Region : Champagne (France), France (France)
Bottle Per Case : 1 x 750 ml
"Almost shockingly dry at first, the wine then develops a more mature character that broadens out the tight acidity and fruit. Previously described as Brut Nature, it’s now designated as Extra Brut, allowing more dosage. It also has depth of flavor, complexity from the fruits, the hint of toast from bottle age. The wine finishes crisply with a fine mineral shot at the end."

Pol Roger stands as a distinguished champagne producer, with its roots deeply intertwined with the legacy of its founder, Pol Roger. The brand remains under the ownership and management of Pol Roger's descendants. Nestled in the charming town of Épernay within the Champagne region, the establishment consistently crafts approximately 110,000 cases of Champagne each year.
Pol Roger, born on December 24, 1831, was the offspring of a lawyer. Initially engaged in the wine wholesale business, he ventured into establishing his own champagne house in 1849, unveiling the inaugural growths in 1853. His efforts earned him an imperial and royal warrant for the Austro-Hungarian court.
Being esteemed members of the Primum Familiae Vini, the proprietors of Pol Roger enjoyed the privilege of holding the Royal Warrant as suppliers of champagne to Queen Elizabeth II. Notably, the pinnacle of the house's offerings is the vintage Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, a label of prestige. Winston Churchill, known for echoing Napoleon's sentiment on champagne, frequently remarked, ‘In victory, deserve it. In defeat, need it!’
In addition to this iconic cuvée, Pol Roger presents three non-vintage options: the Pure Brut (without added sugar), Brut Réserve, and Rich (sweet). The repertoire extends to three other vintage wines – Brut Vintage, Blanc de Blancs, and Rosé Vintage. The Pol Roger Brut Vintage, a blend typically comprising 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir, showcases the house's dedication to quality, though variations in the blend may occur.
