"This is a quite rich, fleshy, fulsome chardonnay, that also offers considerable complexity for the price. Expect a fine ripe sense of peat smoke, almond, yellow apple and nutmeg - that suggests ageing in French oak. It is medium-full bodied, almost creamy and warm on the palate with a spicy, lemon and vanillin finish. The length is very good to excellent."

The Stewarts represent a fourth-generation Okanagan farming family that has been an integral part of the community for over a century. They are dedicated to upholding the founding family principles and values throughout the winery's operations. Through focused research and groundbreaking innovation, the Stewarts have curated a collection of wines that consistently surpass expectations in terms of quality, character, and flavour.
With 160 acres of vineyards under their care, the Stewarts have been pioneers in advancing Canadian viticulture practices. They boast some of the country's most mature vinifera plantings and remain committed to ongoing enhancements in both their vineyards and winery facility.
The family's connection to the soil dates back to 1908 when Richard Stewart Sr., a horticulturist from Ireland, settled in the area. Initially working the land, he went on to establish one of the valley's most successful nurseries. Fast forward six decades, and his son, Dick, transitioned to grape cultivation. In 1989, with the assistance of Dick's eldest son Ben and his wife Ruth, Quails' Gate Winery was established. Over the subsequent two decades, the entire family actively contributed to making the company a leading producer of premium BC VQA wines.
