The Producer

Red Rooster Winery

Canadian beverage producer Andrew Peller has closed down its Red Rooster Winery in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, and is relocating production. The closure, which took place on October 8th, was attributed to an ‘unprecedented winter event’ causing significant damage to the vineyards.

Andrew Peller stated that although it plans to continue sourcing fruit from the same vineyards for the Red Rooster brand, the actual winemaking process will now be conducted at different facilities in the Okanagan Valley. The company operates several wineries in the region, including Black Hills, Tinhorn Creek, and Gray Monk.

Joey Krueger, marketing director at Andrew Peller, reassured, ‘While we are shutting down our operations, it doesn't indicate a change in our long-term commitment to the brand. This closure allows us to assess the most efficient use of our facilities going forward. We are actively exploring new strategies to improve the supply chain by planting new varieties, ensuring our continued presence in the industry's evolution.’

Red Rooster Winery, established by Beat and Prudence Mahrer in 1990, became part of Andrew Peller's portfolio in 2005.
