Producer : Château Bellegrave
Region : Bordeaux (France)
Bottle Per Case : 6 x 750 ml
Bellegrave is not an ancient winery, in fact it was only founded in 1951 by the father of the current owner, Jean-Marie Bouldy. Located in the southern tip of Pomerol, the Boudy family has for generations eschewed chemical farming, and focused on making great wine in the vineyard. The result is Pomerol perfection, with all the seductively dark fruit, velvet-like tannins, and shape-shifting tobacco/truffle/espresso aromatics that make this village one of the world’s greatest appellations. It is important to note that these are old-school Pomerols, the likes of which we rarely ever come across anymore. For those seeking to truly “understand/admire” Pomerol, I can suggest few finer, more illustrative wines.
