"The 2006 Cantemerle was the "surprise package" of the blind tasting at Farr Vintners' horizontal. It has a conservative nose with rosemary and undergrowth scents that open nicely in the glass, but retain a sense of classicism. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightly spiced red berry fruit, sage and white pepper, quite persistent on the finish, which feels very pure. What an outstanding 2006 Claret - a Cantemerle that punches well above its weight. Tasted April 2016."

Château Cantemerle is one out of only 61 châteaux in Bordeaux – out of thousands – that were granted Grand Cru status in the historic 1855 Classification established by Napoléon III. To this day, these estates are known as the Bordeaux elite, the cream of the crop, the crème de la crème, producing wines that go unmatched in terms of pedigree and Bordeaux supremacy.
Château Cantemerle takes that to the extreme: Not only are they one of the most fabled of the Classified Growths, but they are also one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux with viticultural ties tracing back over 650 years.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
