"A complex set of aromas ranging from coffee to forest floor, herbs, licorice, blackberries, cassis and cherries all seem to jump from the glass, and then are joined by a hint of charcoal as well camphor. This is an impressive, full-bodied, dense, concentrated wine that is more up-front and approachable than the 2005 was at a similar stage, but it is remarkably expressive, full-bodied, dense and capable of lasting 20-25 years."

Château Larcis Ducasse
In the XVIth century, the wines of the Château Larcis Ducasse were much appreciated and sought after. In 1867, a gold medal awarded at the Universal Exhibition of Paris recognized the quality of wines produced on this exceptional terroir. Owned by the Gratiot Alphandery family, the Château benefits from the advice of Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu and allows Nicolas Thienpont to continue the efforts made to date to constantly increase the quality of the estate’s wines.
The vineyard is planted with 78% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Vines are sorted manually. The grapes are gravity-fed and separated by variety and plot.
