Château Samion is the family domaine of Jean‐Claude Berrouet, the man who oversaw more than 40 vintages at the famed Château Petrus in Pomerol from 1964until his retirement in 2007. Together with his son Jean‐Françis, they produce a small amount of wine from their holdings in Lalande‐de‐Pomerol which total a scant1.2 hectares. Pure, dense and expressive, this is 100% Merlot that is brooding and dense at present but with unlimited potential and is one of the best deals on red wine on our website!
"Plummy, concentrated, rugged but supple tannins, plenty of black fruits along with a mouthwatering finish that gives relief and draws out the flavours, finishing with a curl of violet. An excellent property with 50 years old vines, owned by Jean-Claude and Jeff Berrouet."
Jane Anson, Inside Burgundy
