Château Samion is the family domaine of Jean‐Claude Berrouet, the man who oversaw more than 40 vintages at the famed Château Petrus in Pomerol from 1964until his retirement in 2007. Together with his son Jean‐Françis, they produce a small amount of wine from their holdings in Lalande‐de‐Pomerol which total a scant1.2 hectares. Pure, dense and expressive, this is 100% Merlot that is brooding and dense at present but with unlimited potential and is one of the best deals on red wine on our website!
"Based on 100% Merlot raised in mostly used barrels, the 2022 Château Samion is made by the Berrouet family and comes from five hectares of vines in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. Ripe cherries, red plums, leafy tobacco, and truffly underbrush notes all shine here, and it's a layered, medium to full-bodied, seamless 2022 that has fine tannins as well as remarkable balance. It's going to evolve and drink nicely over the coming 15."
