The name 'Isole e Olena' originated in the 1950s when the De Marchi family acquired and merged two neighbouring estates, 'Isole' and 'Olena,' both with centuries-old histories. Situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, halfway between Siena and Florence, the estate holds a significant location.
Paolo De Marchi, a fourth-generation winemaker, pursued studies in Agriculture at the University of Turin and gained experience through multiple harvests in California and France. Upon his arrival at the family estate in 1976, relocating from his hometown in Piemonte, Paolo identified substantial opportunities for enhancement and modernization in the Chianti Classico region. One of his initial initiatives involved establishing vineyards dedicated to international grape varieties. Through these progressive steps, Paolo ultimately uncovered a way to harmonize tradition and innovation.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
