The winemaking legacy of the Sensi family in Tuscany dates back to 1890, when Pietro Sensi started bringing the wine crafted from his own vines to nearby markets. Continuing their father's entrepreneurial spirit, Vittorio and Armido, Pietro's sons, established Fratelli Sensi. With a horse and cart, the brothers personally delivered their Chianti to homes in the surrounding countryside and Florence.
In the third generation of ownership, Vittorio's sons, Pietro and Giovanni, shifted the focus towards refining the winemaking aspect, leading Fratelli Sensi wines to gain recognition across Tuscany. The fourth generation, represented by Massimo, Marco, and Roberta, who joined the company in 1987, elevated the Sensi name to international acclaim. During this era, the company honed its grape growing and winemaking techniques.
Taking the reins of the business, Massimo continued his brother's efforts to expand the company and enhance the quality of the Sensi wine range. The firm is committed to conveying a production philosophy of elegance and balance through its wines, celebrated for their pristine flavours and consistent quality. One of its notable estates is the 80-hectare Fattoria di Calappiano in Vinci, enveloped by olive groves, featuring 60 hectares of organic vines. The headquarters of Sensi is situated at its modern Lamporecchio winery, where the company crafts and stores its wines.
