Bottle Per Case : 6 x 750 ml
"There will only be around 1,800 bottles of it. In bottle for two weeks when I tasted it, the 2008 Cotes du Roussillon Clos del Rey - as usual for this cuvee - is around three-quarters Carignan (the balance Grenache) and matured 60% in tank; the rest in new barriques. Rosemary, lavender, and otherwise resinous garrigue herbs ally themselves with ripe blackberry, peat, and saliva-inducing mineral salts on a dense, oily-textured palate underlain with fine, firm tannins, leading to a genuinely exhilarating finish, with sappy, mouthwatering, positively vibratory length that involves tactile and active impingement of stony and somehow almost crystalline mineral character."
92-93 points - David Schildknecht, Wine Advocate, June 2011

Clos del Rey turns out fantastic wines that are rich, powerful and concentrated yet maintain stunning freshness. The vines of up to 120 years old are allowed to grow natural and untrained, in the old-fashioned way, known as the goblet or bush style. However, it is what lies beneath the vineyard that lends much of the character and complexity found in their wines. The winery resides on an abandoned iron mine imparting red and orange hues to the soils of Clos del Rey, this Iron also adds a soft minerality and silky mouthfeel to the wines.
They combine the meatiness of 'Rhône' varietals, with the elegance and refinement brought from their high altitude plots.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
