Tasting Notes

"The grapes for this wine are sourced from the Cima Corgo, near Pinhão. It is a blend of 55% Touriga Nacional, along with a 25% old-vine field blend and 20% Sousão. Aged for 12 months, 50% in stainless steel, 50% in French oak, of which half is new. Memorably spicy and concentrated, with notes of fig, violet and dark plum. Dense yet complete and finely rendered, offering refined tannins and a smooth creaminess. Stylish and harmonious. Finishes long."

The Producer

Maçanita

Nestled on the right bank of the Douro River, deep in the heart of the Douro region, lies the Maçanita winery, a mere 20-minute drive from Pinhão in the Cima Corgo sub-region. This 'boutique winery' exudes a distinctive charm, crafting approximately 80,000 bottles annually, spanning a delightful spectrum of reds, whites, and rosés. Venturing into the realm of Port wine production in recent times, Maçanita Winery has added another layer to its vinicultural expertise.

At Adega Maçanita Vinhos, oenology unfolds with a non-interventional and minimalist approach, where the real magic transpires in the vineyards and the unique terroirs from which the grapes hail. The visionary brothers behind this cellar defy conventional norms, breaking stereotypes with an open-minded pursuit of the Douro's hidden gems. Their philosophy challenges customary rules, ushering in a refreshing perspective that seeks out the small treasures of this storied wine region.
