“This is a red with such brightness of dried-strawberry and cherry character. Full body, firm tannins and a long, long finish. Chewy but so focused and refined. Super red. From Nero d'Avola.”

Tenuta di Fessina is a relatively new winery, first established in 2007 by Silvia Maestrelli. Just after 13 years, she is now considered one of the most successful producers of the Etna area and a pioneer in the world of modern Sicilian viticulture. She is, no doubt, the heart and femininity of her wines.
Why are these wines getting so much buzz? Volcanic soils account for only 1 percent of the world’s surface but contribute a much larger percentage of the world’s great vineyards.
Ash-enriched soil is also responsible for smoky, earthy reds born in the shadow of Sicily’s Mount Etna; they have captivated adventurous wine lovers looking to shock their palates with something different.
It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and personal preferences play a significant role.
