“The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley has a dense opaque purple color, a kiss of blackberry and cassis fruit, a full-bodied mouthfeel with ripe tannin and a long finish. It is very Caymus in its immediate accessibility, but has plenty of staying power and depth. This is lush, full, intense and pure. Drink it over the next 15 or so years.”

We get pretty excited when we get an allocations of Caymus, even if they are small. It is hard enough to find the bottles, the Magnums are rare and they age with grace. They are likely to disappear quickly.

One of the really nice things about the wine business, is that with few exceptions, winemakers are, in most cases, extremely nice people no matter how much acclaim their wines, or their wineries, receive. Perhaps this is due to the winemakers connection with the land/terroir. Caymus has long been thought of as one of the flagship icon wineries of the Napa Valley. Each and every year, Caymus’ wines are some of the most beloved and sought after to come out of California. The Wagner family continues to do a magnificent job. Congratulations to them and to those of you that manage to score some of our limited allocation.

Why Magnums you ask? Personally, i love it. This means that if there are more than a few of you, there will be more full glasses available for each person enjoying the bottle. I am not sure why more people have not caught on to how great it is to have wine kicking around in magnums. Not only do they serve more people from 1 bottle, but Magnums tend to age more gracefully than regular bottles, as the air to wine ratio in the bottle is lower.

Looking to stock up your cellar with Cali Cab for the coming BBQ season. We have plenty. See below for more summertime treats.

I will remind those of you interested in learning a little about terroir to watch the little video below.

Have a great weekend everyone.
