Tasting Notes

"Luminous straw-green. Inviting, lovely lemon-lime and white flower notes on the nose. Then very serious and almost austere in the mouth, displaying a stony personality to the orchard and tropical fruit flavors. Remarkably Fiano-like on the long, smooth, mineral finish – in fact, it “out-Fianos” Ferrara’s Fiano Sequenzha this year! A lovely wine that is still youthful and will likely develop well."

93+ points - Ian d'Agata, Vinous Media, Nov 2019

Benito Ferrara is one of Italy’s best white wine producers. Ferrara’s most famous wine, the Greco di Tufo Vigna Cicogna, is an Italian icon.

Benito Ferrara’s Greco di Tufo Vigna Cicogna is perhaps the most elegant Greco di Tufo wine made in Italy today. Though it has the tannic power typical of Greco wines, it has a light on its feet quality, a dainty minerality and a lemony freshness that are not commonly found in other Greco di Tufo wines." - Ian d'Agata, Vinous Media

The Producer

Benito Ferrara

The Benito Ferrara winery has ancient roots dating back to the dawn of the last century. Today it covers 8 hectares. All areas planted with vines are in the municipality of Tufo, the hamlet of San Paolo, in the traditional production area for the cultivation of the vine Greco di Tufo, and in the municipality of Montemiletto for the production of the Aglianico grape. The soils are ideally located between 450 and 600 m above sea level, with a southern exposure, a hilly and a medium texture texture.

The wealth of experience that has been handed down for generations with an innate love for their work and a cutting-edge cellar, enabling the production of fine wines, known and appreciated in the most demanding markets around the world.

The company was established in the second half of the last century by Benito, father of Gabriella, but wine production was already at the beginning of the 900 prerogative of Ferrara family in the small hamlet San Paolo.

Benito, an innovator and a visionary entrepreneur, understood what was most important for wine production and devoted himself body and soul - with his wife Michelina - to the foundation and development of new company.

Gabriella now runs the company. And with Benito's skill and dedication, the winery has established an envious reputation among the wineries in Campania and in Italy.
