"Sbragia displays a Midas touch with Chardonnay, and the 2013 Chardonnay Home Ranch is a big-time winner. Aged in 50% new oak and 50% older oak, it exhibits buttery crème brûlée and tangerine oil notes intermixed with honeysuckle and pineapple. Medium to full-bodied and luscious, with admirable fruit intensity as well as a long, textured, luscious finish, it can be drunk over the next 2-3 years. This is also a stunning value for a Chardonnay of this quality."

The Sbragia family's deep ties to Sonoma County date back to their grandfather's immigration from Tuscany in 1904. He worked in various wineries, including the renowned Italian Swiss Colony. The family ran a prune farm in Dry Creek Valley, common in that era. In the 1950s, Gino Sbragia replanted the fields with Zinfandel grapes, fulfilling a dream of establishing a family winery. The narrator, having worked in the vineyards since youth, embraced an old-world winemaking philosophy focused on good land, grapes, and techniques.
Gino sold most grapes but kept a portion to make wine at home. In 2006, Sbragia Family Vineyards opened, realizing Gino's vision. The narrator, with a 32-year tenure as Winemaster at Beringer Vineyard, maintained a deep connection to Sonoma and Napa. The narrator's son, Adam, now crafts their wines, striking a balance between tradition and his own style. The wines, including Chardonnays, Zinfandels, and Cabernets, consistently earn high scores for their big, rich, polished, and delicious profile.
