Bertrand Sourdais may not be a name you know, but he is a legitimate superstar of planet wine, a prodigy who made his mark at Mouton Rothschild ($1000+), Alvaro Palacios (top wines are $700+), and has made some of the most sought after wines from Ribera del Duero for almost two decades at what was formerly Dominio de Atauta, now his own project, Bodegas Antidoto, which represents one of the true cult wineries in Spain. It is a dream to finally work with not only those wines, but also his home vineyards, Domaine de Pallus in the Loire valley, where me makes some of the greatest Cabernet Franc in the world. These wines rival great right bank Bordeaux in complexity, with an ethereal freshness and backbone that make these must-haves for serious collectors—an up and coming cult winery to take notice of now. Bodegas Antidoto has quickly grown into one of the most prestigious properties in Ribera del Duero, and if you aspire to drink the best, it’s a name you need to know.

Les Pensées de Pallus Chinon by Domaine de Pallus 2018
"The 2018 Les Pensees de Pallus is a rich round and ripe style of Chinon reflecting this warm vintage. There's a low level of slippery tannins, reminiscent of the texture of slip, providing gentle grip. It could be approached now, but it's still very young. Displaying notes of primary black cherry fruits, tea leaf, baking spices and a lifted element. This is very much a wine of its vintage but has a remakrable freshness and a sense of crunch adding tension. Long length. It's red to drink but has a decade of evolution."
Rebecca Gibb MW, June 2022
'La Hormiga' Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Antidoto 2021
"La Hormiga is the top red from Bertrand Sourdais, principally sourced from the clay-based soils on the northern side of the Duero river. Matured in 27% new wood, it’s a focused, nuanced, well-balanced Tinto Fino with layered tannins, tangerine, blood orange and blackberry fruit and a fresh, tapering finish. 2024-30"

Antidoto Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Antidoto 2022
"The 2022 Antidoto is a Tempranillo from old vines in Soria, Ribera del Duero, and spent up to eight months in 600-liter oak barrels. Garnet in the glass with a purple sheen. The slightly reductive aromas feature blood, blackberry, violet and black cherry notes. The palate is dry and intense, with a reasonably structured profile softened by fine, velvety tannins and a juicy finish. This is a remarkable Soria red that leaves a lasting impression."
