Joel Gott, a fourth-generation California vintner and a dynamic figure in the world of wine and food, has a rich background rooted in the picturesque landscapes of Napa Valley and the Sierra Foothills. His journey in the wine industry began amidst the vineyards of Montevina Winery, where his parents laid the foundation. After completing high school, Joel ventured to Sonoma County to join Kenwood Winery, marking the commencement of his hands-on experience in winemaking.
In 1996, a pivotal moment occurred when Joel acquired several tons of Amador County Zinfandel. Collaborating with his then-girlfriend and skilled winemaker, Sarah, whom he later married, Joel crafted a Zinfandel that garnered acclaim from esteemed publications such as the Wine Spectator, the Wine Advocate, and the New York Times. This success catapulted Joel Gott Wines into the limelight, offering Joel the opportunity to expand his repertoire with various varietals.
Further enriching his wine ventures, Joel joined forces with Charles Bieler and Roger Scommegna in 2001 to establish the innovative Three Thieves wine brand. Presently aligned with Trinchero Family Estates, the collaboration has given rise to notable labels like Bandit and The Show. In 2009, Joel announced a strategic partnership with Trinchero Family Estates for the marketing and distribution of Joel Gott Wines. A subsequent collaboration with Charles Bieler resulted in the creation of Shatter, a French Grenache, adding another dimension to Joel's diverse portfolio. Joel Gott's journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment to producing exceptional wines and pushing the boundaries of innovation in the industry.
