Monterebro was launched in 2009 to commemorate the acquisition of Jumilla’s most historic winery (founded in 1870). Monterebro is a strategic Anglo Hispanic alliance formed by two families engaged in integrated viticulture; and in the production, sale, distribution, and export of premium wine. As the winery’s flagship brand and only viticultural project, the Monterebro wines are produced using carefully selected top quality grapes picked from unirrigated old vineyards located at altitude in D.O.P. Jumilla.
Monterebro owns and operates several small and largely inaccessible vineyards spanning the northwest of Jumilla. This provides the team with complete control over the entire winemaking process (from vine to bottle). The grapes yielded from these prized vineyards are used exclusively for the production of the Monterebro wines. Furthermore, Monterebro does not source grapes from third party viticulturists. As a result, production is low, availability limited, and Monterebro has become one of the most authentic viticultural and oenological projects to emerge from Jumilla.
