"Luminous red. Captivating, delicately musky aromas of fresh red cherry, raspberry juice and blueberry pie, plus a strong dusting of minerals. Juicy, bright and rather suave in the mouth, with crunchy red cherry and sweet spice flavors complicated by nuances of herbs, flint and candied violet. The finish is bright, crisp and perfumed. With its easygoing texture and restrained sweetness this is already drinking well, and there’s very little to gain by cellaring it for any extended period of time. One of the very few monovariety Nerello Cappuccio bottlings, this is not unlike a young, very fruity Sangiovese."

Tenuta di Fessina is a relatively new winery, first established in 2007 by Silvia Maestrelli. Just after 13 years, she is now considered one of the most successful producers of the Etna area and a pioneer in the world of modern Sicilian viticulture. She is, no doubt, the heart and femininity of her wines.
Why are these wines getting so much buzz? Volcanic soils account for only 1 percent of the world’s surface but contribute a much larger percentage of the world’s great vineyards.
Ash-enriched soil is also responsible for smoky, earthy reds born in the shadow of Sicily’s Mount Etna; they have captivated adventurous wine lovers looking to shock their palates with something different.
