Tasting Notes
Deep ruby colour; Lively, fresh nose with deep charred wood character, juicy red berries and cherry, red and black currant; structured tannins grounded by coffee flavours, with cherry carrying over from nose and mingling with currant and spice to create a finish that lingers and draws you back for another sip; pairs well with strong cheeses, beef dishes, tomato based pasta.

The Producer
Colio Estate Winery
The Colio Estate Winery is located near the sunny shores of Lake Erie, opened its doors in 1980, and is one of the first wineries in the Niagara region granted a licence since prohibition.
Allison Christ, winemaker at Colio Estate Wines, began fostering her skills in winemaking with an Honours BSc. in Chemistry/Mathematics from the University of Windsor, followed by harvest experience in both small and large winery settings, as well as a President’s position at the Windsor Essex Chapter of the Ontario Wine Society. Allison brings her passion to all facets of cellar and winery operations with a focus on harvest, fermentation, blending and bottling.
