Domaine Coudoulis
Domaine Coudoulis was founded in 1996 by Bernard Callet. The estate's 28 hectare vineyard overlooks the town of Saint-Laurent-des-Arbes in the Lirac Appellation in France's Southern Rhône Valley.
The small Appellation of Lirac lies on the west bank of the Rhône river, opposite the more famous vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, sharing a similar hot dry climate and galets roulés soils as its more illustrious neighbour. Domaine Coudoulis’ single vineyard site is situated on an elevated terrace, helping to moderate the heat of the summer and retain freshness in the wines. The main grapes grown are the black-skinned varieties Grenache , Syrah, Cinsault and Carignan.
Winemaker Bernard Callet crafts modern Lirac wines in his new winery. He looks for a fresher style of Southern Rhône that allows the purity of the grapes to express themselves, eschewing the use of oak and ageing in concrete vats instead.
