3 x 750ml Pouilly-Fumé Domaine des Berthiers by Jean Claude Dagueneau 2021
Jean Claude Dagueneau's Domaine des Berthiers is well situated on the hillside of Saint-Andelain in the hamlet of Berthiers, at the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Sourced from select plots of Sauvignon Blanc this is the emblematic cuvée of the domaine, deliciously refined with ripe citrus aromas (lime, tangerine) and smoky notes from the silex terroir. The distinguished acidity of flint balances with blackcurrant, mango, and citron flavours resulting in a lively, noble expression of Pouilly-Fumé.
3 x 750ml Sancerre Origine by Matthias et Emile Roblin 2021
Origine is what the Roblin family calls their classic Sancerre. The vines grow on clay and limestone soils which give the wine that classic elegance that one expects from an aromatic Sauvignon from the cool Loire. It is fermented in stainless steel, followed by 5-6 months of aging on the yeast, which gives the wine stability and depth. A very fine and mineral Sancerre like out of a picture book.
Decanter magazine writes about the 2020 vintage (not yet tasted in 2021): "Appealing white peaches, green apple and pineapple on the nose, which translates seamlessly onto the palate. The sweet ripe fruit is tinged with a dry, chalky texture and a bitter gooseberry finish."
3 x 750ml Sauvignon Blanc Val de Loire by Vignoble Drouard 2022
Pale yellow color with green reflections. Rich and complex nose of citrus with hints of passion fruit, lychee, citrus and even boxwood. This follows through on the bright palate with lively acidity, minerality and a long finish.
3 x 750ml Savennieres Chamboureau by Domaine FL 2019
"With almost pungent minerality and gigantic concentration, this awesome Savennieres shows how great dry whites from the chenin blanc grape can be. On paper this must have plenty of acidity, but it’s so beautifully integrated that you don’t think about it. With some aeration this develops a wonderful nose of honeysuckle. Extremely long wet-stone finish. From organically grown grapes."
